Welcome to Monday!! I'm up early most days of the week and one of my hobbies is taking pictures of the beautiful sunrise's we get everyday!! Our Majic studios have an awesome view !!   I'll share one with you every Monday morning! Enjoy!
She's the new Queen of the media and Katie Couric has quite a lovely palace to relax in! It's her 6.3 million dollar Hampton's home and it's gorgeous. It looks like Diane Keaton's home in "Something's Got To Give" and I would not be surprised if she and her sister who helped her decorate used that movie as an inspiration.  Hey Katie are you up for a weekend guest from Austin?

I found this old copy of US Weekly in my garage a few weeks ago! It's from 20 years ago and I do not know why I kept it, but I thought the cover has some crazy connection to today's events surrounding Mad Max Mel Gibson! The "Tough and Tender" part is kind of eerie too!!
The United States Space Program has always held a special place in my heart. My whole childhood was wrapped up in it , and I am sure for most of you the same is true. Everyone I new , myself included wanted to be an astronaut!
I remember 40 years ago today walking with my best friend Chris up and down and around the block looking for the Good Humor Ice Cream man and hearing the sounds of NASA everywhere since everyone was inside glued to their TV screens watching the first lunar landing. It was a hot sunny July day in Dearborn , Michigan. I also remember hearing Neil Armstrong's infamous "Tranquility base here, the eagle has landed." It is something I will never forget and I was delighted to see all the members of the Apollo 11 team are still alive and well. Below I have posted my favorite picture which you most likely have seen , and then and now pictures of the brave Apollo 11 team. It was 40 years ago today...time flies!!

A GOOD LAUGH!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, this one will give you a few laughs too!
The world say's goodbye to Michael Jackson in a huge memorial at the Staples Center in LA tomorrow. Now there will be crowds and celebrities and they will send Michaels memory out in style, but I have decided to say goodbye in my own sweet way and by that I mean....having a sweet delicious Michael Jackson cupcake at Hey Cupcake on Burnet! Hey Cupcake has become a sweet obsession here in Austin , and is best known for the airstream trailer on South Congress. The location on Burnet is more like a cute little cupcake shop and right now they are playing Michael Jackson music in the store while you indulge in one of their delicious creations!I asked the server last weekend about the Michael Jackson cupcake which they have been serving for a few years now. It is chocolate with a yummy cream cheese icing with chocolate sprinkles on top and is fabulous...just like the icon himself. The day Michael died they sold out in 30 minutes! I have put a link to the Hey Cupcake website and a picture of the Michael Jackson cupcake below. It is just my sweet and delicious way to honor Michael 's memory, and I may end up doing it often! :-)

I like many of you grew up with Michael Jackson. The first record I ever purchased on my own with my hard earned allowance money was "The Love You Save". I saw the Jackson 5 perform this song on" The Ed Sullivan Show" back in 1969 and I will never forget it! I will also not forget yesterday June 25th as the day we lost this musical icon.I was luck enough to see Michael Jackson perform in concert several times. The first concert I saw was at The Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. It was the Triumph tour and Michael was performing with his brothers, though he had just released his first solo album "Off The Wall" at the same time. This was in 1979 and to this day it is the BEST concert I have ever been to. It was in a word "Magical". Every time I went to a Michael Jackson concert I would get butterflies in my stomach with anticipation...he was that good!I believe we will never see another talent like his in our lifetime. Whatever his problems were, you can't take away the genius that was Michael Jackson as a performer. I believe he became a star on the night of "Motown Live 25" in 1983 when he performed Billie Jean and introduced the world to The Moon Walk ...unforgettable! I have posted links to the video of that performance and a link to an article in Time Magazine on how to do it! Enjoy them both and the picture of Michael taken by my good friend and talented photographer Jennifer Jeffery! Feel free to share your memories too![kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/8VASYhabHkM" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1907320,00.html
Ladies how would you like a free bra? Soma Intimates is having their Grand Opening in the Barton Creek Square Mall and if you spend $50 you get the bra of your choice absolutely free! They have so many to choose from including two of my favorites, the Soma Wash and Go Bra, you simply wash it and throw it in the dryer, and it looks like new and fits like new every time!! They also have a bra called the Bridgette bra. This one has a built in camisole at the top so you don't have to add an extra layer under your clothes! Such a great idea! I was in NYC a few weeks ago for Mother's Day and all I wore was Soma! It is the most beautiful and comfortable clothing I have ever worn. Come and see me this Saturday at the new Soma Intimates at the Barton Creek Square Mall and see it all for yourselves! Soma is located on the first floor new Nordstrom and across from Talbot's.  I will be there from 3pm til 5pm! Below is a picture of me with some of the wonderful ladies who work at Soma, you are going to love everything in the store...trust me! See you Saturday!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I am sure you have had a lucky charm or two in your lifetime. I have a luck Kennedy half dollar that my grandfather gave me years ago. I always make sure I have it when I travel.  I was looking at a list of the standard good luck charms and symbols and came up with one unusual one! First of all the standard list is:4 Leaf Clovers, White Elepant, gold coins, rabbits feet, wishbones and horseshoes! Then at the bottome of the list I saw Lucky Pig! That's right a pig! I had never heard of that so of course I had to google and find out more. It turns out in the 18th century in Germany and Austria a "pig" was considered good luck. It was said if you owned a pig you would never go hungry. They also had a saying "A Pig in Clover",  so clover played a part in it anyway. Below are pictures of postcards from 1905 that show some very lucky pigs!!  The one on the right show's that the pig means "Prosperite" or prosperity! I think the whole country can use that lucky charm right now! Enjoy your St. Patricks Day!!
I had the pleasure this past weekend of seeing a true music legend perform. During my career I have seen hundreds of concert performances but only a few true legends. The Austin Symphony put together a wonderful program featuring Charlie Daniels. Charlie has been in the music business for just over 50 years now. His performance with the Austin Symphony was nothing short of phenomenal!Charlie does it all and makes it look easy! I had the pleasure of interviewing and meeting Charlie and everyone he meets feels special in his presence, he is one class act!! If you ever want to see a one of a kind talent see, Charlie Daniels. He even has his own museum in Nashville!I also want to thank the Austin Symphony who put together a wonderful presentation of music from classic western's before Charlie took the stage. We are so lucky to have so many talented musicians here in Austin!
She is looking good these days...no lipo or botox for this girl, and at 50 she has never looked better!! Happy Birthday Barbie! Mattel introduced Barbie on March 9, 1959 and she is still around to make each generation of young girls thrilled and happy!! Here are a few quick Barbie facts:When introduced to us in 1959 she cost just  $3.50!That first year over 300,000 Barbies were sold. The inventor of the Barbie doll named her after her daughter Barbra , who was not a blonde by the way!Mattel has introduced an anniversay Barbie with the same black and white swimsuit, just an updated version. Here's a toast to Barbie who will most likely be around for another 50 years, may we all be so lucky!!

Today was so exciting for me! Finally after begging my boss for months, he agreed to let me play a Barry Manilow song on Majic 95.5! Let me start by saying that Barry Manilow is my favorite singer/songwriter. We go way back Barry and I. The first on I ever heard by Barry was "Could This Be The Magic", on American Bandstand. By the way Barry wrote the theme for American Bandstand, that's how wonderful he is!! My first date with my husband was to a Barry Manilow concert in Chicago, and if course that was all it took for me to fall in love with him and Barry!!
I just don't think there is enough Barry Manilow on the radio today! Come to think of it until today there wasn't any!! Since I agreed to work President's Day today, my kind and wonderful boss agreed to let me play one Barry Manilow song a week, at 2pm on Monday's!! Manilow Monday's are here at last!! Of course I played Barry's biggest hit, " Mandy" today, and now I want to know your favorite Barry Manilow song. Who knows , I may be playing it next Monday at 2pm! Think about it! We can turn this into Manilow winning weekends, Manilow cruises on Lake Travis, and maybe even a trip to Vegas to see Barry!! I may be getting carried away, but in these crazy times we could all use a little dose of Barry Manilow, even if it is just once a week. So join me every Monday at 2pm for Manilow Monday's and don't forget to submit your favorite Barry Manilow song...I'm counting on you!!
Check back for more Manilow updates and until then here is a video of Barry singing one of his biggest hit's !!
