These are the Most Popular Types of Halloween Candy in Every State

October 17, 2017

We're about to spend $2.7 billion on Halloween candy (as a nation), according to experts. And, of course, there will be some candy that we won't give to trick-or-treaters. We'll have to eat some of that candy by ourselves, right? Unless we're talking about candy corn. Who likes that stuff, right?

Not so fast.

Candystore.com, a bulk candy retailer, compiled data over the last 10 years to find out which types of candy are the most popular in each state, and we couldn't believe one of their findings. We are sorry to report that candy corn actually tops the list in the most states. Yes, six states consume more candy corn than any other type of candy on Halloween. We're talking about you in Alabama, Idaho, Michigan, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.

Check out their interactive map here to see the findings across the nation:

Other popular candy types included even more traditional favorites: Snickers, M&M's, Tootsie Pops, as you can see in the full graphic above.

So, we're wondering: what is YOUR favorite type of Halloween candy? Take our poll below to let us know:

This reminded us that we have to buy candy for trick-or-treaters. The big day is RAPIDLY approaching!
