Study: Kids Who Use Touchscreen Devices Sleep Less at Night

Parenting can be hard sometimes. It can be even harder when you have a little one who can't seem to go to sleep or sleep through the night.

According to a new study, something you may be letting them use for entertainment may be a big part of their sleep issues. Any guesses?

Here's a hint: it also causes sleep issues for adults. I am notorious for texting and browsing social media before bed. All of that time spent on a touch screen just makes going to sleep all the harder. The same thing happens for toddlers who already can be quite a handful at bedtime.

The meat of the new study says that for every hour a toddler spends using a touchscreen device per week that they will lose 15 minutes of sleep.

Let's do the math: if your kid is using the iPad for 5 hours, they will lose 1 hour and 15 minutes of sleep that night.

I see some parents allowing their kids to be on their phones or iPads the entire time when I go out to restaurants these days. So I would be willing to guess these parents also allow them to spend a lot of time on them at home too.
