June 30, 2017

A record number of Americans are expected to travel to celebrate Independence Day this year. Yes, 44.2 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles for the Fourth of July.

But not all destinations are created equal. So personal finance site Wallethub has compiled a list of the best destinations to celebrate America’s Independence Day

Which city is the best? Atlanta!

San Francisco, Buffalo, Washington D.C., and San Diego rounded out the top 5.

Factors like the number of holiday activities, the city's affordability, and the area's weather forecast were taken into consideration for the list.

Newark and Jersey City (both in New Jersey), by the way, are the worst places to spend the holiday, according to Wallethub.

By the way, if you feel disappointed you’re not traveling this year. Don’t be. 30% of Americans say they won’t spend any money on the Fourth of July this year.
