Another week... another revival of a ‘90s hit TV series. This time it is the hit CBS sitcom Murphy Brown.

CBS has officially placed an order for 13 episodes of Murphy Brown during the 2018-2019 television season.

Candice Bergen will reprise her role as the series star and the fictional TV journalist on the FYI Network. Bergen will also be an executive producer of the program.

“As its 30th anniversary approaches, Murphy Brown returns to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate,” CBS said in the release.

Diane English, who was the original creator of the series, will serve as a writer and one of the show’s executive producers.

Deadline reports that talks are underway for other members of the show’s original cast to return as well.

CBS’ desire to bring Murphy Brown back to the airwaves doesn’t come as much of a surprise, of course. After all, NBC has had a ton of success with the revival of Will & Grace, which has already been renewed for a second season. Meanwhile, ABC’s reboot of Roseanne premieres in March.

Murphy Brown will premiere during CBS’ 2018-2019 television season.
