The only way to describe Jennifer's dress from last night is Dead Sexy.

March 5, 2018

If you're anything like me, your favorite thing about the Oscars is seeing all the beautiful gowns. And when the show is as boring as it was last night, the clothes really do take on new meaning. I especially love to watch with my mother who made almost all of my formal dresses growing up. For those she didn't make from scratch, she would rip some seams and add some flourishes to make it better. Once I was all grown up and had to buy off the rack, I had a whole new appreciation for all of the bespoke clothing Mommy made me. And, as you may have guessed, we are big Project Runway fans.

Do you find that when you watch, there are certain actresses whose dresses you always like? Charlize Theron, perhaps? Nicole Kidman or Sandy Bullock? For me that person is Jenn Garner. I can't think of something she wore that I hated (although surely there is one). So I decided to do a quick check on some of Jennifer's previous Oscar choices:

Love all these choices, and you remember that orange one right? But I went far back enough that I finally got to one I thought was meh. It's the baby blue number below. Not only does it not really fit her (which Mother taught me is first and foremost EVERYTHING), but the design is underwhelming. However, she looks like she loves wearing it (which is the second most important detail).

So, about last night. This cobalt Atelier Versace gown Jennifer wore had me at hello.

Far and away the most beautiful of the night, and there were some seriously gorgeous dresses on display. And in case you were wondering, Mom thought so, too!
