I was so excited when I found out that the Jason Wu collection at Target was going on sale on Super Bowl Sunday!! I don't work Sunday mornings , so I knew I could stand in line and hopefully pick up a few pieces I've had my eye on before they were gone!! My friend Nikki and I stood in line for only a half hour, but with temps in the upper 30's it seemed a whole lot longer.!! With about 25 minutes to go the manager of the store came out to lecture us on store etiquette, she was a bit scarred from the Missoni incident this past summer!! Finally we were let in ,10 at a time , but Nikki and I were at the front of the line and we got everything we wanted!! No chaos whatsover, everyone was nice too!! I was able to score the cute cat bag to tote my laptop and a great yellow top that is just so versatile!!
I love pancakes and don't eat them too often, but when I found this recipe I had to try them and share it with you!! Perfect to make on Sunday mornings!!
Growing up in Michigan I never had much success with succulents!! In Austin it's a different story and the warm winter temperatures have been good to mine!! This is one of my favorites!!
One of my New Year's Resolutions has been to do something every day that makes me happy!! It could be something big, like buying a new camera or something small like taking a walk outside on a gorgeous winter day! This weekend was a busy one, but the one thing I wanted to do was learn to make a green smoothie!! I want to get more fruits and veggie into my diet and I have on many occasions stopped by Juiceland to get a yummy green smoothie. A few weeks ago I made decided to buy a Vitamix blender to make my own smoothies!! Of course this made me very happy that day!!
For anyone who is familar with this miracle of modern invention, you know that not only can you make a delicious green smoothie, but your own peanut butter ( I did this last week), hummus, soup and even a tasty margarita!! So this weekend I headed to Whole Foods and bought every organic green veggie I loved , along with some fresh and frozen fruit, plus some fabulous seasonings. Saturday morning I loaded my trusty Vitamix with , kale, cucumbers, cabbage, a banana, green apple and pear, plus a slice of ginger, hit the switch and let the magic happen!! Success!! My very first smoothie was not only a gorgeous shade of green but delicious too, and of course it made me very happy!! Here's to a healthy and happy 2012!! We deserve it!!
It has always been something I've struggled with, folding a fitted sheet!! I've seen Martha Stewart and others do it on TV, but have always forgotten how they did it!! At last I found a step by step version to share with you!! I tried it this weekend and it works perfectly!! Happy Monday!!
I think January gets a bad rap for many reason's , including shorter days and colder weather!! One thing January has going for it are the colorful sunrise and sunset skies it provides!! Last Friday's sunrise was one of the prettiest I have ever seen and even after the sunrise there was a small rainbow that appeared over the city. Maybe is was a Friday the 13th good luck omen? I had an amazing day yesterday in Bastrop! I was able to be on the set of Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition to see them put the final touches on the beautiful home they built for the very deserving Zdroj family. I have never seen so many people in one place coming together for such a great cause. The family is going to see there home for the first time today and the episode will air a year from now during the holiday season! While we were on the set we met our fantastic tour guide Gregg was able to show us the process of building a home and putting it all together. It's like the circus coming to town, setting up tents and getting the job done! We had a fantastic catered meal from a local restaurant and got to hang out with some of the cast and producers. Everything is donated and you could feel all of the positive energy and excitement too!!
All of the designers and producers live in these donated trailers. Ty Pennington's is the one in the middle with the green windshield.
This is Gregg our wonderful tour guide! He said they had just build 7 new homes in Joplin , Missouri which was hit hard by tornadoes this past summer. They are headed to Knoxville, Tennessee later this week to build another new home for a deserving family!
My favorite furniture store, The Home Consignment Center furnished the entire Zdroj family home!! I spoke with Vanessa Price the Senior Design Producer for Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition and she told me that this is the first time in the 9 year history of the show that they had used just one store to furnish and entire home.!! She told me she had never seen such a great selection of furniture and that they had everythng they needed is stock! Like me, she is a huge fan of The Home Consignment Center!! Karen and Kristen, the wonderful mother/daughter team at the store were on hand to stage the new home too!!
